Nicotinell patch step 1, 21mg, assists you in your journey to a smoke free life. It works, by reducing your nicotine dose slowly. The program is designed to be executed in a 3-step format. Each step has its own specific patch to suit your needs through the program. The dose of nicotine delivered through the patch decreases as you progress.

Step 1 – consists of 21mg patches, for people who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day. Patches with this strength can be used daily, for 3 to 4 weeks before progressing to step 2.

Step 2 – consists of 14mg patches, for people who smoke less than 20 cigarettes a day. Patches with this strength can be used daily, for 6 to 8 weeks before progressing to step 3.

Step 3 – consists of 7mg patches, which helps with those last stages of your smoke free journey.

NOTE – Each patch can be worn for up to hours at a time, before requiring a change. The mg dosage indicates the amount of nicotine that would be gradually released in that 24-hour period.

Usage Directions:

• Take the patch out of the packet and remove any additional protection from the patch.
• Immediately apply the patch to a washed and cleaned area of hairless and dry skin that is free from creams and lotions (including sunscreen or insect repellent). The upper arm, chest, abdomen or hip can be good spots.
• Press the patch down firmly for 10–20 seconds with the palm of your hand. Then run your fingers around the edge, pressing firmly so it sticks. DO NOT check if it has stuck by lifting the edge as this may make it come loose.
• After 24 hours, remove the patch and apply a new one on a new area of skin. DO NOT apply a new patch to an area of skin you have previously used for at least 7 days.

Warnings:

Do not use if:

• You are under 12 years of age

• You are a non-smoker or occasional smoker

• You are generalised skin disorder that may complicate patch therapy (e.g. generalised psoriasis or chronic dermatitis)

• You have an allergy to nicotine or any component of Nicotinell Patch

• The sachet seal is broken

Do not use without your doctor’s advice if:

• You have had a recent heart attack or a stroke

• You have angina (chest pains) that is not well controlled or getting worse

• You have severe arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat)

• You have uncontrolled high blood pressure

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before use if:

• You are under 18 years of age

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding

• You have severe high blood pressure or other heart or blood vessel disease

• You have kidney or liver disease

• You have diabetes

• You have an overactive thyroid or adrenal gland cancer
